about me!

Here I am with some of my plants :)

Eyo! I'm Camille, I live outside of Chicago and my favorite fish is probably a yellow tang, followed by the mola mola, tripod fish, and any sort of boxfish. Now, the real question is, what's a biochem/chem/music major doing taking a 400-level class about horror films?

To be truthful, I probably spent more time watching movies than hanging out with friends in high school, and although I never got into the actual aspect of filmmaking, I always liked analyzing what I watched to a stupid degree (it's why my mom doesn't like to watch movies with me). I wouldn't say I ever made any grand conclusions about the "nature of film," but I definitely can say I consumed media for more than just the entertainment.

I ended up taking a musicology class called "borrowed music in the movies," it's exactly as it sounds, we watched a movie, read an article as a starting point, and then asked a bunch of questions and tried to figure them out in discussions. We actually focussed a fair amount on horror, often through trauma and slow violence. Long story short, it was amazing, I learned a lot, and now I want to learn more, so here I am, taking a film class about horror movies for funsies.

I mean, what better way to spend the quarantine than watching and reading about horror films, while also learning about COVID19 in my biochem II class? Both super cheery, light, happy, just really top notch topics for discussion if I do say so myself (I am actually, genuinely excited for these classes). At least this will take up time from my relative boredom. My dogs run away from me because they're not super social and don't love being hugged, I've already cut my hair, no bangs, I've done a plant photoshoot, and I can only hang out with my parents for so many hours in the day. At least I'll have all my unnamed plants to support me through the quarantine.
